Christmas Cookie Exchange

Every year my sister hosts a cookie exchange at Christmas. It's gotten wildly popular and everyone expects her to do it. Since I missed her party this year, I thought I'd do my own here in Lubbock. I recruited my friend Brittany to help... and am I ever glad she did. She is super cute and crafty. We invited quite a few girls from the ward. Everyone brings 5 dozen cookies. Then you swap cookies and everyone goes home with 5 dozen cookies-all different kinds. The easiest way to swap is to set all the cookies out on a table-everyone comes over with empty plates/containers and just picks and chooses from the spread their 5 dozen cookies. We had a hot chocolate bar for the guests, served in these adorable cups that we all know I didn't make! Although I'd like to thank Pinterest for the idea of a hot chocolate bar.
I did bring over a few dishes to serve our goodies in. We had peppermint bits, Heath bits, marshmallows, those wafer cookies, red hots, candy canes... anything we thought would be good in chocolate. Which is almost everything. We served the cocoa in a crock pot so it'd stay warm. Here's a hint-if you do that, you will need a few hours to get it from cold to hot! Brittany also made chocolate covered stirring spoons. Very, very delicious! We also served cookies, and marshmallows.... We felt like we should have something besides sweets, so we threw in a cheese ball and some chicken ranch things Brittany made. I probably ate ten of them! Overall it was a great party-and the easiest way to make a pretty plate to give the neighbors and the girls I visit teach. That, and having a Christmas party really invites the spirit of the season in. Looove this time of year!
Love Anna
